Precious is a 2009 American independent motion picture established on the novel Push and as well adapted from the 1996 film Push. In order to void confusion and cumulative legal battles the name was changed from Push: Based on the Novel by Sapphire to Precious.

Being and available film it was first shown at the Sundance Film Festival where it acquired the audience award and grand jury prize for best drama. It was declared in February 2009 that Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey would assist the film by seeking to get it promotional supporting through one of the largest motion picture producers worldwide, Lions Gate.

The plot is based on a 16 year old fat and uneducated Precious who lives in the New York City district of Harlem with her broken family. Soon after she gives birth to her first child from her father and calls him Abdul.

Subsequently her mother drops Abdul on aim and proceeds to abuse her, Precious makes up one's mind to leave her family in search of a greater life for her and her son. Nevertheless her mother eventually gets to tell her that her father passed from HIV. Precious discovers that she is HIV positive but Abdul is not.
